China Trade Simulation Class

PictureIn Florida State Law's "first-of-its-kind" China Trade Simulation Class, Florida State law students representing a U.S. corporation negotiate business arrangements with a Chinese company represented by law students at the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade. Although the students' negotiations are only simulations using the Internet, those at both ends gain valuable international business experience.

Professor Tahirih Lee, whose course provides the venue for the simulations, believes that the trade simulation class not only gives students hands-on experience in understanding Chinese transactions, but will also be an experience that should stand out to future employers.

Professor Lee and Dean Don Weidner laid the groundwork for the course in July 2001 during a visit to Shanghai. The course draws on Professor Lee's extensive knowledge of Chinese law and trade to provide students with global business experience.
