Law, Business and Economics

Florida State University College of Law offers an interdisciplinary program in the important area of Law, Business and Economics. Our mission is to graduate students with the training necessary to pursue sophisticated careers in business and in finance.  Toward that end, we offer our students a faculty with deep expertise and a curriculum rich in the exploration of business, economic and financial principles and their application.  Our program places special emphasis on how economic principles can and should influence the development of legal institutions, both domestically and globally.

We are proud to have five full-time faculty members who teach the core courses in business associations. One faculty member is an empirical economist who also teaches related courses in subjects such as law and economics, finance, empirical methods for lawyers and game theory in business transactions. We also have related faculty expertise in intellectual property and in international business transactions.

Our business faculty generate high-impact scholarship important both to the private and to the public sectors. In addition to traditional legal journals, including The Business Lawyer and the nation's top law reviews, our faculty have published in leading law and economics journals, including the Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization and the Journal of International Economic Law. Because tax law considerations loom large in business transactions, it is important to underscore that our tax faculty is one of the nation's 15 most downloaded tax law faculty on the Social Science Research Network.
