Admissions

Florida State Law attracts a remarkably talented and accomplished student body and acceptance into the school is highly competitive. We receive 14 applications for every seat in our entering class. For the 2009 entering class, we received more than 3,000 applications. Twenty-five percent of students in the 2009 entering class have LSAT scores of 162 or higher and the average LSAT score is 161. The median GPA is 3.53.

Admissions decisions are based on the evaluation of each applicant's potential for success in law school and in the legal profession. The admissions committee evaluates applicant files from October through May of each year. The application deadline is May 1. Applicants are notified of the committee's decisions at the earliest possible date. Most admissions decisions are based on the combination of LSAT scores and undergraduate grades.

Applicants with the strongest academic records are given priority for admission. In addition, applicants must submit a personal statement, writing sample and recommendation letters. The committee also takes into consideration the strength of the applicant's undergraduate program, graduate study, significant leadership activities, unique work or service experience, history of overcoming economic or social hardships, and the applicant's potential for contributing to a diverse academic environment in terms of life experience.

Florida State Law is a full-time, three-year program. First-year students start in the fall semester. Transfer students and visitors are admitted during the fall, spring and summer semesters.
