Since our first class enrolled in 1966, Florida State University College of Law has sought to offer an outstanding legal education based on time-honored fundamentals and exposure to emerging areas of legal theory and practice. Our highly accessible and energetic faculty members have established strong reputations for scholarship in their fields of expertise, many of them authoring texts used to teach law students, practicing lawyers and judges. A number of them also play active roles in national and international law reform activities. Our three-year curriculum is designed to prepare students for the successful practice of law. Although it is based on a core of traditional law courses, our curriculum recognizes and responds to the rapid changes in modern legal practice. Environmental & land use law, international law, intellectual property, cyber law and dispute resolution are among the areas that have received increased emphasis in the curriculum in recent years. Students with an interest in these areas have opportunities to take a rich curriculum with interdisciplinary opportunities, work on student-run legal journals, and participate in extracurricular activities that help hone practical skills. Take a look at some of the exciting courses we have to offer. |
