Judicial Externships

In this program, students work with a judge or judges and are expected to assume the responsibilities of a judicial clerk. The externship experiences vary depending on the type of court and judge. Students generally draft memoranda, conduct legal research, and have the chance to observe trials and proceedings. This externship is a great opportunity for students who want to improve their legal research and writing skills and who wish to gain first-hand knowledge of the judicial system. Students in this program participate in an evening seminar that meets every other week to discuss “the art of judging” with a guest judge or clerk.
