Why did you choose the College of Law?
Choosing a law school was one of the most stressful and overwhelming decisions of my life. I chose Florida State Law because of the immediate attention that was placed on my needs coming into law school. Unlike other law schools, that are competitive and extremely focused on rank, Florida State Law is focused on community. We are all here helping each other. The upperclassmen, faculty, and staff welcome you as family, know your name and your goals as a student. Florida State Law focuses on how they can help you as an individual; here, you’re not just a number.

What do you feel is unique about the College of Law?
Florida State Law has a huge advantage being located in Tallahassee. We are walking distance from the Florida Supreme Court. We constantly have judges and prominent figures on campus and they are always eager to give advice to law students, which is a unique feature of a state law school. One of our assignments in our Legal Writing class is to go to the Florida Supreme Court to watch an oral argument, which is such a cool experience!

How have you interacted with our alumni network?
Our alumni network loves to help current law students. As soon as I was assigned a mentor through Women’s Law Symposium, I was overwhelmed with the kindness my mentor showed me and the investment she made in helping me achieve my career goals. I also had the opportunity to meet with an alum in Tampa, my hometown, who talked to me about opportunities there. The alumni truly care and will go out of their way to invest in us, as well as helping us get internships for the summer!

What has been the best experience you have had at the College of Law thus far?

One of the best experiences I have had was when my Property professor threw a Halloween party for our class. Halloween was still a time we were getting to know each other, and so it was really cool for us to be in a relaxed setting and also to see our professor in his home and as a real person.

Which professor has been particularly helpful to you during your time at the College of Law?
Professor Mary Zeigler, my Torts professor in my first semester of law school, was extremely helpful in getting us acquainted with the exam style of law school. She would read as many practice exams as we sent her and provide feedback almost always within 24 hours. She showed that she really cared about us doing well and rewarded hard work.

Share a fun fact about yourself.
My father served in the British Royal Navy and we immigrated here when I was 8! I still have dual citizenship in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
