This course will focus on the constitutional holdings of the Roberts Court and their academic critique and reception, with a goal of understanding the approach to liberty, equality, and popular self-rule that undergirds the Roberts Court’s reasoning. The course will have a proportionate focus on law that bears directly on democratic self-governance, but will also consider other constitutional law holdings that impact democratic self-rule and personal liberty and equality.
