Education

J.D., Emory University

David Bedingfield is visiting FSU College of Law for the spring 2021 semester and is teaching Comparative Family Law and Immigration Law. Professor Bedingfield has developed a specialty in children’s rights and the international movement of children. He earned his J.D. from Emory University and practiced in Georgia before moving to the United Kingdom in 1990. He was appointed a recorder in 2009 and sits in family, civil and criminal cases. 

He has published extensively in the U.S. and the U.K., and wrote a textbook titled, “The Child in Need: Children, the State and the Law.” Professor Bedingfield has developed courses in advocacy techniques and has lectured on international movement of children, the adoption and placement of abused children and human rights in the family law context.
