Nadia Banteka

Nadia Banteka is the Gary & Sallyn Pajcic Professor of Law at Florida State University College of Law. A scholar of constitutional criminal procedure, criminal law, law and technology, and international law, Professor Banteka's research addresses critical issues in criminal procedure and policing, the integration of artificial intelligence into the criminal justice system, and the concept of AI personhood.

Professor Banteka’s scholarship has been published in leading flagship law reviews, including the Virginia Law Review, UCLA Law Review, Vanderbilt Law Review, Wisconsin Law Review, Notre Dame Law Review, Houston Law Review, and Seton Hall Law Review. Professor Banteka’s contributions to specialized fields appear in top specialty journals, including the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, the Virginia Journal of International Law, the Michigan Journal of International Law, and the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law.

Professor Banteka’s expertise has been recognized internationally, with invitations to serve as an expert for the Perry World House at the University of Pennsylvania, Oxford University, and the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court. Before entering academia, Professor Banteka worked as a public defender and served as defense counsel before the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, a visiting scholar at Yale Law School, and a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law.

Professor Banteka holds law degrees from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, graduating first in the class as a Dean’s Scholar and recipient of the Karin Lest Award for Excellence.

At Florida State University College of Law, Professor Banteka teaches courses on Criminal Law, Constitutional Criminal Procedure, and the Law of Policing.
