2025 D’Alemberte & Palmer Lecture Series

January 6, 2025

We are excited to announce that former Ireland President Mary Robinson is this year's speaker for the D'Alemberte & Palmer Lecture in International Human Rights.

Robinson will speak on "The Rule of Law in International Human Rights" on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 4 p.m. at FSU Law in Auditorium 101. The event is open to the public and will be livestreamed.

Robinson is a leading advocate for human rights, climate justice, and the rule of law. As Ireland's first female President (1990-97) and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (1997-2002), she advanced global human rights and highlighted marginalized populations. Now Chair of The Elders, she continues to push for climate action and gender equality.

In her lecture, Robinson will discuss the link between climate change and human rights and propose solutions for restoring justice and accountability worldwide.

The D'Alemberte & Palmer Lecture, made possible by Patsy Palmer, Esq., aims to educate the community and inspire FSU Law students on global human rights issues. Previous speakers include Ambassador David Scheffer (2024) and Alberto J. Mora (2023).
