Glenda L. Thornton is an experienced executive and litigation attorney with more than 30 years of achievement in the law, business, healthcare and nonprofit environments. As assistant dean for strategic initiatives, Thornton spearheads many alumni, student and community activities on behalf of the law school. At FSU Law, Thornton has worn many hats having taught legal research and writing and served as interim dean of admissions, registrar, and director of communications. Thornton has also led efforts to create and expand the law school’s innovative centers and serves as the faculty liaison to BAN, the FSU Law Black Alumni Network.
Before joining FSU Law, Thornton served as a regional vice president at Accretive Health Inc., a national healthcare consulting company in Chicago. She previously served as general counsel at the Florida Department of Lottery, of counsel at Bateman Harden, P.A. and a litigation partner at Foley & Lardner, LLP.
Thornton earned her J.D. at Florida State University in 1989. While in law school, she served as an articles and notes editor for the Florida State University Law Review, had an article published as a 2L and won a national championship with the Moot Court Team. She has remained very engaged as an alumna of FSU Law. Thornton received the law school’s 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award, chaired the moot court team’s board of alumni advisors and served for several years on our Board of Visitors.
