Jennifer LaVia is a Tallahassee native who graduated from Duke University and then went to the University of Florida law school. She practiced law in Tallahassee for 15 years as a trial lawyer and then left private practice to teach at FSU College of Law for 19 years. She taught Professional Responsibility, Legal Writing & Research, Civil Rights, and Topics in Florida Practice. She was the Director of the FSU College of Law Veterans Legal Clinic for three years. In 2020 just before the pandemic, she started her own law firm, LaVia Law, to provide reduced-fee legal services to people who make too much money to qualify for legal aid and not enough to be able to afford full-price attorneys. She returned to FSU College of Law in 2024 to teach Legal Writing & Research I and II.
