Today is the last day of our 2023 Donald J. Weidner Summer for Undergraduates Program (SUG), and it has been an incredible several weeks. On May 23, we welcomed 59 bright, ambitious, accomplished undergraduate students from around the nation to FSU Law for our 2023 program. While here, the students have attended common law, legal writing, and criminal procedure classes; toured the Florida Supreme Court and the Florida Capitol; learned about the law school admissions process and what to expect during law school from members of our faculty and administration; prepared and presented oral arguments in one of our courtrooms; met with dozens of practicing attorneys and judges to network and learn about their careers; attended several LSAT preparation sessions; and heard inspiring remarks from program benefactor Wayne Hogan (’72) during a special lunch. Students also attended several fun, team-building sessions, including a retreat at the FSU Rez Lakefront Park, an 80s-themed murder mystery event, and a tour of the FSU football stadium. Many thanks to our alumni and friends who engaged with the SUG participants and to our Office of Student Advancement for planning and implementing enriching programming for the students! It is no wonder that SUG has been twice honored for its excellence by the American Bar Association.
