TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State University College of Law Journal of Transnational Law & Policy will present its 2026 Lillich Lecture in International Law, featuring Steven R. Ratner, the Bruno Simma Collegiate Professor of Law at the University of Michigan, at 3:30 p.m. on March 25 in the D’Alemberte Rotunda.

In his lecture, “Can – and Should – the UN Charter be Saved?” Ratner will examine the continuing relevance of the United Nations Charter and the international legal system it established after World War II.

Drawing on his extensive experience working with international institutions and human rights bodies, Ratner will discuss how scholars, policymakers, and practitioners can engage with the UN system to strengthen its capacity to address contemporary global challenges. Through this approach, he will consider how international law can continue to play a constructive and practical role in promoting stability, accountability, and cooperation in the international community.
