Students externing at the Public Employees Relations Commission work in a clerkship-like capacity for the Legal Division of the agency, which includes attorneys serving as hearing officers and staff attorneys to the Commission. Duties include the preparation of legal memoranda and draft orders in judicial and administrative proceedings. Students may also assist with secret ballot elections. Students have an opportunity to hone legal writing and research skills, and to become familiar with the rules and laws governing public labor law in the State of Florida.
