We are delighted to welcome Maureen Wagner, who joined FSU College of Law as executive director of the newly formed Election Law program in April 2024. In this role, Wagner works closely with Professor Michael Morley. The program is nonpartisan and provides students, scholars, policymakers, and election officials throughout the state with objective, evidence-based analysis of election-related legal and policy issues. It held its inaugural Distinguished Lecture in Election Law in March featuring Richard Briffault, the Joseph P. Chamberlain professor of legislation at Columbia Law School. On April 25-26, the program hosted its inaugural Election Law conference on voting, voter registration, and the federal laws governing the electoral process welcoming leading election law scholars from law schools around the nation and top election law administrators for thought-provoking panel discussions.

Prior to joining the law school, Wagner served as deputy secretary for professional regulation at the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation where she oversaw the licensure and regulation of 20 professions of over 800,000 licensees. Wagner previously served as the chief of staff to Florida Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez. Prior to working in Florida’s state government, Wagner served as a member of the counsel’s office at the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and as deputy chief of staff at the New Jersey Department of State. Wagner received her J.D. degree from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2010.
