This course offers students a critical opportunity to develop clear, effective legal writing essential to today’s legal practice and the NextGen Bar Exam. Students analyze exemplary models in legal writing used by top advocates and practice these techniques to develop a clear, effective style across a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and legal correspondence. Students learn to write professional emails, e-memos, and client letters. Students also prepare a motion for summary judgment that serves as a polished writing sample. This course may be particularly useful to law review editors, students writing law review notes or articles, moot court participants, students preparing upper-level academic papers, and students refining writing samples. This course helps students prepare for the writing tasks required by the NextGen Bar Exam.
