Maureen Wagner Vinson joined FSU College of Law in the spring of 2024 after many years in top roles in state government in both Florida and New Jersey. Notably, she spent four years in Florida’s Executive Office of the Governor, serving on the Governor’s senior leadership team before taking a position as Deputy Secretary of Professional Regulation at the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. At DBPR, she oversaw a $95 million budget and the licensure and regulation of 800,000 licensees across over twenty professions in Florida, ranging from certified public accountants to MMA combat fighters.
In New Jersey, Maureen served as Deputy Chief of Staff at the New Jersey Department of State, where she broadened her knowledge of election law. While in this role, she helped craft the state’s response to President Trump’s Commission on Election Integrity request for the state’s voter information. Maureen also worked on various ethics issues when, for the first time in state history, the sitting Secretary of State was running for Governor. In 2018, she worked as the Director of South Florida Election Day Operations for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. In this position, she oversaw the machine and manual recount efforts in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties.
