This hands-on, application-based course is designed to explore the use of AI in regulatory compliance and contracting. Students will learn to design and build a series of customized, practical AI solutions to address real-world compliance and contracting problems. This includes identifying complex legal risk management contexts that can benefit from AI automation, grounded AI through retrieval augmented generation, and agentic AI. Students will apply AI custom solutions to various hypothetical compliance and contracting issues, including risk assessment, due diligence, policy management, training, monitoring, auditing, and investigations. Students will also evaluate and apply appropriate AI tools and techniques for specific tasks and design, build, and implement AI-powered solutions to address complex legal risk management challenges. Finally, students will learn how to communicate effectively the benefits and limitations of AI-driven solutions to managers and stakeholders. This course requires no prior programming knowledge, as we will be using no-code tools.
