This course provides a survey of the complex legal topics that make up the body of agricultural law with a critical analysis of how and why agriculture is treated differently than other industries. The course covers both substantive areas of agricultural law as well as agriculture-specific issues falling within traditional categories of law, and emphasizes current legal issues of significance within the world of production agriculture and agribusiness.
U.S. Agriculture accounts for 30% of U.S. jobs and $7.43 trillion in economic impact. This course provides a survey of contemporary legal challenges that agribusinesses face and other substantive areas of agricultural law. Students will discover the diverse and complex legal landscape affecting agriculture as well as career opportunities in government, law firms and advocacy groups.
