FSU College of Law Celebrates Historic No. 1 Best Value Ranking

Florida State University College of Law has been ranked the No. 1 Best Value Law School in the nation by preLaw Magazine, recognizing FSU Law’s exceptional combination of academic quality, affordability and career outcomes.
The preLaw ranking evaluates schools based on factors including tuition, cost of living, average student debt, bar passage rates and employment rates — key indicators of how well a law school prepares graduates for success without imposing an excessive financial burden.
“Earning the top spot on preLaw’s Best Value list reflects a philosophy we’ve embraced for years: combine affordability with opportunity, and graduates will have the freedom to build the careers they truly want,” said Erin O’Hara O’Connor, dean of FSU College of Law. “Per dollar invested in their legal education, our students receive an unmatched return, both in quality of education and professional outcomes.”
FSU Law has achieved something rare in higher education: in-state tuition has remained frozen for 16 years, underscoring the university’s commitment to accessibility and fiscal responsibility. That investment continues to yield exceptional results, with FSU Law graduates achieving strong pass rates on the Florida Bar and securing employment at leading law firms, courts and public institutions nationwide.
This new recognition builds on a year of continued momentum for FSU College of Law. In the 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings, FSU Law placed No. 38 overall and No. 17 among public law schools, marking one of its strongest performances to date. FSU Law was also ranked No. 4 in the nation for student quality of life and No. 6 for best professors by The Princeton Review.
