Florida Postelection Audit Project

This project, which began in 2022 with Leon County, Florida, provides the public with accessible information about the accuracy and transparency of post-election audits across Florida counties.

All Florida counties are required by law to complete a post-election audit. In this project, we present the results of selected counties’ post-election audits, including ballot images, along with data from independent vote tabulators and 100% retabulation audits. Currently, the project includes audit data from multiple counties across different years and from both primary and general elections.

The purpose of this initiative is to promote election transparency and strengthen public confidence by making audit results, conclusions, and associated ballot data easily accessible. Users can explore the data through a user-friendly interface that allows sorting by contest, candidate, or precinct, and view the ballots associated with each election.

Florida Election Study

Beginning in 2024, in conjunction with the Leroy Collins Institute, the Center is co-sponsoring the Florida Election Study, a comprehensive analysis of voters’ participation in, experience with, and perceptions of the state’s electoral process during federal elections. The study relies on public records to provide a detailed empirical examination of voter registration and turnout (including breakdowns by race, sex, and political party), methods of voting, and election results. It also incorporates a survey of a broad, randomly selected cross-section of Florida voters to determine their subjective perceptions about the accessibility and security of the state’s voting system. This study will be an invaluable empirical resource concerning the on-the-ground operation of Florida’s electoral system.
