AI Day in the Capital at Florida State University College of Law and Lab22C

Florida State University hosted an inaugural AI Day in the Capital on January 22, 2026, bringing together leaders in government, law, technology, and academia from across the university to explore the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence and its implications for public institutions, civic infrastructure, and ethical governance. Guided by researchers, practitioners, and innovators at the forefront of this work, participants engaged in thoughtful dialogue about how emerging technologies are shaping the future of law, policy, and society.

We are grateful to our outstanding presenters and speakers, and to our generous sponsor, Amazon, for helping make this event possible. By convening leaders across disciplines, we are preparing our students and the broader public to engage thoughtfully and ethically with the technologies that will define our future.

Here is a quote from Saif Ishoof, founder and managing partner of Lab22c, about AIDay in the Capital:

"This year’s inaugural AI Day at the Capitol, hosted by FSU College of Law, was an extraordinary and first-of-its-kind gathering here in the state of Florida. For the very first time, we had AI founders, lawyers, scholars, practitioners, and students in the same room, all exploring the profound implications and challenges this frontier technology presents to our legal and policy framework.

What I loved most about this day is that we were able to step outside of our individual lanes to see the bigger picture: how urgent it is that leaders across sectors convene on a regular basis to examine the rapidly changing world of AI and how it ultimately intersects with our civic and legal infrastructure.

Our team at Lab22c was proud to partner with FSU College of Law’s Dean O'Hara O'Connor and team in helping bring this vision to life. I’m excited that FSU has embraced a clear and vital role as a preeminent legal education institution located in our state’s capital to serve as the convener of this gathering, not just this year, but for years to come."
