AI Governance After Session: What Florida Did, What It Did Not Do, and Issues for Practitioners to Monitor

With the conclusion of Florida’s 2026 Legislative Session, lawmakers considered a range of proposals related to artificial intelligence, automated systems, digital content, and supporting data infrastructure. While multiple AI-related measures were introduced and debated, Florida did not enact a comprehensive statewide statutory framework governing the development, deployment, or use of artificial intelligence across the private sector.

AI-related proposals during the Session addressed topics including synthetic media, automated systems, consumer protection, government use of technology, and data infrastructure. These proposals advanced through various stages of the legislative process but did not result in a unified AI governance statute. For attorneys, compliance professionals, policymakers, and business leaders, the conclusion of Session provides an opportunity to evaluate both enacted legislation and policy areas that remain under active consideration.
