A case doesn’t always end after the trial is over. One or both parties may want to appeal the trial verdict. In appellate externship programs, students generally review trial records on appeal, research potential issues, prepare briefs, and gain familiarity with appellate procedure and motion practice. These externships are especially useful for students who wish to develop their research, analysis and legal writing skills.
Students are placed at locations such as the Office of the Attorney General, Criminal Appeals and the Office of the Public Defender, Criminal Appeals.
Students, please visit the FSU College of Law Externships site on Canvas for the most current externships information and to apply.
