We proudly welcomed 51 bright, motivated, and accomplished undergraduate students from across the country to FSU College of Law for the 2025 Donald J. Weidner Summer for Undergraduates Program (SUG), which runs through June 18. Now in its 34th year, this nationally recognized program continues to open doors and inspire the next generation of legal professionals. Over the next few weeks, participants will immerse themselves in a rich array of academic and professional experiences.

The Judge Advocate Student Association is a law school student organization dedicated to advancing the field of military law among the students at the law school and assisting those interested in a career as a judge advocate among all branches of the military. Notable projects include the military moot court competition, SVA run for awareness in the fall, and JAG Day.
The Florida State University College of Law proudly celebrated the accomplishments of its Class of 2025 during its Spring Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 4, at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. A total of 130 JD, 13 LL.M., and 114 J.M. graduates received their degrees during the ceremony, marking a momentous milestone in their legal education.
Finals week can be a time of heightened stress for many students. For law students, the pressure can feel even more overwhelming.
Studies show that 75% of law students experience significant stress and anxiety, a troubling trend that has increased nationwide in recent years. Florida State University College of Law Professor Lawrence Krieger is taking proactive steps to support students’ mental health and overall well-being.
FSU College of Law recently hosted its Annual Admitted Student Preview Day, welcoming 90 prospective students from across the nation. This event provided a unique opportunity for admitted students to engage with faculty, staff, and current students while learning about the academic and extracurricular offerings at FSU Law. Highlights included a mock class with Professor Kahn, a student panel with current 1Ls, and a keynote address from distinguished alumna and President-Elect of the FL Bar Sia Baker-Barnes.
Florida State University College of Law has climbed 10 spots to secure the No. 38 position overall in the U.S. News & World Report’s annual survey of the nation’s top public and private law schools. The College of Law shares this ranking with Emory University, UC Irvine, Fordham University, and the University of Florida.
Professor Mike Markham was featured in a Law360 article titled, "Fla. Law School Launches Bankruptcy Law Pro Bono Clinic."
During spring break, FSU Law students journeyed to Apopka, Florida, for the 2025 Alternative Spring Break Program. Visiting the Farmworkers Association of Florida, the students had a unique and impactful learning experience, exploring the legal and human dimensions of critical issues such as environmental justice, immigration policies, farmworkers' rights, and human trafficking. Participating students engaged in hands-on learning opportunities, including community gardening and a visit to an industrial nursery.
