TALLAHASSEE – Florida State University College of Law will hold the Fifth Annual Lillich Memorial Lecture, which this year will feature a Symposium on Human Trafficking, on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 2 to 5 p.m. in Room 101 of the law school. 

University of Iowa College of Law Professor Mark Sidel, the keynote speaker, will present "New Directions in the Struggle Against Human Trafficking." 

Panel speakers will include: Professor Kathleen Kim from the Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, who will speak about "Damages for the Victims of Human Trafficking;" Dr. Terry Coonan, the executive director of the Florida State University Center for the Advancement of Human Rights, who will speak about "The Dilemmas of Victims in Investigations and Prosecution of Traffickers;" and Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida Corey Smith, who will speak about "The Challenges Facing Prosecutors in Human Trafficking Cases." Florida State Law Professor Elwin Griffith will moderate the panel. 

The symposium is sponsored by the College of Law, the Center for the Advancement of Human Rights, the Journal of Transnational Law & Policy, the Women’s Law Symposium and the Florida State International Law Students Association.
