TALLAHASSEE—The Florida State University College of Law Mock Trial Team has won another major competition. On November 18, the team placed first in the 2007 Trial Advocacy Competition held in Miami and sponsored by the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Labor and Employment Law.

The winning team members are law students Jessica Bowen, Brandy Hance, Ben Smith and Liza Smoker. The team is coached by Tallahassee attorneys and Florida State Law alumni Tom Brooks (’75), of Meyer and Brooks, P.A., and Gary Anton (’81), of the Law Offices of Gary J. Anton, P.A. Member attorneys of the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law judged the competition.

“We are all very proud of our Mock Trial Team’s victory,” said Dean Don Weidner. “This first place in an employment law competition follows closely on the heels of national championships in corporate law and in religious freedom.”

The Florida State victors will compete against the country’s other five top teams at the national Trial Advocacy Competition in Chicago in January.
