TALLAHASSEE—Florida State University College of Law has moved up again in the national rankings in U.S. News & World Report, to 52nd best law school in the nation. U.S. News also ranks Florida State Law’s environmental law program 11th best in the nation (tied with Stanford and Tulane). Over the past five years, the law school’s overall ranking in U.S. News has gone up 15 slots. 

“We are delighted we continue to move up in U.S. News rankings, but we still think we should be even higher,” said Dean Don Weidner. “We are the best law school in Florida and one of the best in the region, but the rankings do not fully reflect that. As our programs continue to gain national recognition, including our new program in Law, Business and Economics, we expect our rankings to get even better.” 

The jump in rankings is, in part, a reflection of Florida State Law’s strong student outcomes. Even in a down economy, 98 percent of the class of 2008 was placed within nine months of graduation. Florida State students also have been number one in passing the Florida Bar Exam four out of the last seven times it was administered.
