TALLAHASSEE — U.S. News & World Report(2014) has ranked Florida State University College of Law as Florida’s #1 law school, and 45th best nationally. These are new highs for Florida State as the school continues its climb in national rankings. The numbers make Florida State the nation’s 21st best public law school.

The jump in rankings is, in large part, a result of the school’s extremely strong employment rates. According to the U.S. News data, Florida State is Florida’s #1 law school, and the nation’s 39thbest, in terms of the percentage of 2012 graduates employed nine months after graduation in full-time, long-term, bar passage-required or J.D.-advantage jobs. Florida State is also the nation’s 18th best public law school in terms of that metric. Florida State’s environmental program is ranked the nation’s 14th best.

“We are thrilled that U.S. News has rated us the #1 law school in Florida,” said Dean Don Weidner. “The student success at getting jobs shows the value of a degree from Florida State.”
