Florida State Ranked Nation's #1 Law School For Government Careers
TALLAHASSEE — preLaw magazine has ranked Florida State University College of Law the nation’s best law school for government careers. Additionally, FSU Law is ranked seventh best in the nation for public defender/prosecutor jobs and among the nation’s top seven law schools for public policy. The rankings, which are published in preLaw’s winter 2020 issue, reflect employment data, curricular offerings, and debt and loan repayment options.
According to preLaw, Florida State is the nation’s No. 1 law school for government careers because of hands-on opportunities and location. The magazine cited that nearly 30% of graduates obtain jobs in government.
“We are thrilled to be ranked the nation’s top law school for government careers and seventh best for prosecutors and public defenders,” said Dean Erin O’Connor. “A large majority of our students want to work in these areas, so providing them with opportunities inside and outside the classroom to gain pertinent experience and knowledge is very important to us. Helping each student reach their specific professional goals is critical, and we work diligently to ensure students have the opportunities and training they desire.”
preLaw graded Florida State an “A” law school for public policy, which translates into FSU Law being one of the top seven schools in the nation. According to a preLaw article, law schools graded highly for public policy consider improving society through justice endeavors a key part of their mission. Many of FSU Law’s clinics, courses, externships and student groups focus on public policy.
