TALLAHASSEE—Tallahassee law partners Benjamin Crump and Daryl Parks, both 1995 graduates of the Florida State University College of Law, have increased their original commitment to the Parks & Crump Diversity Enhancement Scholarship by $75,000, bringing their total gift to the endowment to $100,000. 

The income distributed from the endowed scholarship will be used to increase diversity in the law school’s student body by providing scholarship support to students from groups historically underrepresented in the legal profession, especially African-Americans. To the greatest extent possible, scholarship recipients will be either Florida residents or be willing to make a commitment to remain in Florida to practice law for at least three years after graduation. 

“We are all grateful for the rapidity with which Ben and Daryl have turned to the support of the school,” said College of Law Dean Don Weidner. “Their Diversity Enhancement Scholarship will help us serve as a powerful engine of access to the legal profession.” 

The gift will be eligible for a 50 percent match from the State of Florida. The $50,000 state match will be added to the permanent endowment, creating a total endowment of $150,000.  

“Daryl and I think it is extremely important for those of us who have benefited so much from our Florida State legal education to give back so that others can benefit as well,” said Ben Crump. “We encourage Dean Weidner and the rest of the administration to continue pushing for diversity to help FSU become the best place in the nation to study law.”
