Justice Raoul G. Cantero, III Wins Florida State Law Class of '66 Award

TALLAHASSEE— The Florida State College of Law Alumni Association has selected Florida Supreme Court Justice Raoul G. Cantero, III to receive the 2007 Class of ’66 Award. 

The award recognizes a non-Florida State University College of Law graduate who has rendered distinguished service to the law school and to the community. Each recipient is inducted into the Class of 1966 to commemorate the year that Florida State Law opened its doors. 

Justice Cantero received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and his law degree from Harvard. Since his appointment to the Florida Supreme Court in July 2002, he has been deeply interested in professionalism and has served as the chair of the Supreme Court’s Commission on Professionalism. He has spoken on the topic to lawyers as well as law students. Justice Cantero has taught Florida Supreme Court Decision-making at Florida State Law and frequently meets with law school students. 

“Justice Cantero has been a real friend of the law school,” said Dean Don Weidner. “He is extremely involved in the life of our school and he and his wife have even hosted our students in their home.”
