conference in Portugal.

In June, in his capacity as co-chair of the Global Health Law Committee of the International Law Association, Edward Ball Eminent Scholar Professor of International Law Fred Abbott participated in the organization’s 80th Biennial Conference in Lisbon, Portugal. On June 21, Fred chaired a panel on Global Health Law in a Deteriorating Environment. In response to tremendous challenges facing the world, including the pandemic, climate change, and the war in Europe and consequential disruption of food supplies, the panel examined the role of global health law in preparing for, addressing, and mitigating the consequences of the deterioration in the international environment. Fred also co-chaired a committee session, where he and others presented and discussed their 2022 report on global health law. Fred’s work in the area of international health law is extremely important, especially considering the economic and social risks of future health emergencies, and we are proud that he continues to represent FSU Law with exceptional expertise on the global stage.
