TALLAHASSEE — The Florida State University College of Law Women’s Law Symposium (WLS) will be hosting its 14th Annual Silent Auction on Thursday, October 23 at the law school. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Refuge House, an organization that provides direct services to battered women, their children and sexual assault survivors.

The silent auction is from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Signs will be placed throughout the law school to direct people who wish to place bids.

The auction will feature donations from many local businesses in Tallahassee, including Aveda, Borders, Classic Car Repair, the Crepevine, Dean Mayo & Homewood Suites, Euphoria Tattoo, Evy & Grace Photography, Finnegan’s Wake, Fingers & Toes, MoMo’s Pizza, New Leaf Market & Deli, Performance Arts Center of Tallahassee, Super-Suds and The Winery at the Red Bar. The auction also will include items signed by Bobby Bowden and Ricky Carmichael and many gym memberships and personal training sessions.

“Domestic violence affects many people in Tallahassee and surrounding areas,” said WLS member Stacy Cleveland. “Funds raised at the silent auction will allow the Refuge House to continue to provide services ranging from counseling for victims of rape or abuse to temporary shelter for those needing to escape a violent situation.”
