Why did you choose the College of Law?
I chose to attend Florida State Law because of the welcoming environment and great location. While I expected law school to be competitive, I did not want to be in such a competitive environment that it stunted my academic and personal success. From fellow students to professors and administrators, everyone has been so friendly and supportive during my first year. Additionally, being in Tallahassee provides so many unique opportunities to meet mentors, sit in on both trial and appellate court proceedings, and see how the law functions in the real world.

What has been the best experience you have had at the College of Law thus far?
My best experience thus far has been completing my first ever cold call in class. I am a pretty reserved person, so the idea of speaking in front of my class terrified me. However, after my first cold call, I felt confident and less nervous about class. I learned that cold calls are not as scary as they seem, and overcoming my fear helped me focus and enjoy class. I consider overcoming my fear of being cold called one of my best experiences because it has made me more confident in my law school experience.

Which administrative office and/or professor has been particularly helpful to you during your time at the College of Law?
The Office of Student Advancement has provided me with great advice and countless stress-relieving events. Their staff is some of the friendliest and positive individuals on campus. They helped me quickly prepare my student bar application at the start of the semester and hosted tons of wellness events to help students relax. I’ve had the opportunity to attend yoga and healthy cooking classes, Painting with a Twist, and have tea and scones as an afternoon pick me up thanks to this amazing office.

Why did you become a student ambassador?
When I started applying to law schools, my main goal was finding an institution where I felt welcomed and included. I wanted my opinions and interests to be respected and valued. I desired to be an important member of a campus community and make an impact on the school as well. Florida State Law has provided me with all those opportunities and now I love giving back. I yearn to help admitted students feel the genuine and welcoming environment that our law school possesses. I want admitted students to know choosing Florida State College of Law means choosing a community that will respect and embrace them.
