Why did you choose the College of Law?
I chose Florida State Law because of how accommodating they were in my transition to law school. Students were helpful in giving honest feedback on what to expect during my first year. Also, visiting the campus on Admitted Students Preview Day, observing a first-year class, and observing a trial team in action further assured me that law was the career path I wanted to pursue, and that Florida State Law was the place to do it.

What do you feel is unique about the College of Law?
The friendly atmosphere. Before starting law school, I heard horror stories of how competitive law school can be, but my experience so far has been just the opposite. Everyone is super helpful in giving feedback on professors, sharing outlines and just generally supporting each other. It is a friendly, ‘“We all can make it” kind of atmosphere.

How have you interacted with our alumni network?
My interaction with alumni has primarily been through different mixers hosted by various student organizations such as Women’s Law Symposium and the Black Law Students Association. These activities have given me access to mentors who have provided me with valuable insight on the positives and negatives of their areas of practice, and helped me narrow my list of possible practice and interest areas. Through my interactions, a current circuit judge invited me to observe a criminal trial, which was a great experience.

What has been the best experience you have had at the College of Law thus far?
My best experience thus far has been participating in the Phi Alpha Delta Mock Trial Team. I especially value being able to interact with others from different backgrounds and experiences, and learning the skills need to be a great advocate.

Which administrative office has been particularly helpful to you during your time at the College of Law?
The staff of the Career Services and Professional Development Center has been extremely accessible and helpful. I remember visiting campus and being able to speak with one of the advisors without having to set an appointment. I wasn’t able to do that when visiting other law schools. They also encouraged us to start thinking about our job search as early as the first semester. Because of their help, my resume was updated and complete by the end of my first semester and I was ready to start applying for summer jobs at the beginning of my second semester.

Share a fun fact about yourself.
I enjoy performing arts such as singing and dancing.

Why did you become a student ambassador?
When I was an incoming 1L, ambassadors helped me tremendously when it came to what to expect during my first semester and provided beneficial study techniques. The ambassadors still offer support whenever I need it. As an international student, I am able to offer support to prospective international students by sharing knowledge with regard to life in law school as an international student and options that are available to us after law school. Giving back as an ambassador in such a way will be an asset to both myself and my school community.
