The Juris Master in Cybersecurity, Privacy, and Technology Risk Management is an online, 30-credit-hour master’s in legal studies that can be completed on a part-time basis. The program enables working professionals and recent graduates to gain an in-depth understanding of the law and regulations, allowing them to begin or advance their careers in today's heavily regulated cybersecurity, privacy, and technology risk management fields. Students are not required to have any prior cybersecurity or technology expertise. Relevant technology concepts are introduced in the courses themselves, as well as in the Technology Fundamentals for Cybersecurity, AI, and Beyond course.
You will gain a strong foundation in the U.S. and foreign laws and regulations governing cybersecurity, privacy, intellectual property, data science and artificial intelligence. You will also learn about contract law issues important in these areas, including basic contract law, IP licensing law, government and defense contracting, and myriad legal and risk management issues relevant to managing portfolios of contracts.
You will also gain a strong foundation in some of the specific issues regarding cybersecurity, privacy, and technology risk management in highly regulated fields, such as the health care and financial services industries. The curriculum is designed for compliance officers, legal risk managers, IT professionals, and corporate executives.
You will also gain an understanding of how to implement intelligent risk management programs and determine when legal counsel is needed.
Advanced courses in this area include Cybersecurity: Implementing Policies and Procedures; Cybersecurity Breach Response: Investigation, Mitigation, and Remediation; Financial Privacy and Cybersecurity; Workplace Privacy and Cybersecurity; Health Care Privacy & Cybersecurity, and Intellectual Property Risk Management
