Charles F. Tunnicliff ('72) passed away on June 6, 2024. Tunnicliff had a distinguished 35 year career as a lawyer for the State of Florida. He was a long time Seminole Booster Golden Chief and endowed two athletic scholarships. He created the Cynthia and Charles Tunnicliff Endowment for Excellence at the FSU College of Law, where he and his wife Cynthia ('71) were active alumni, serving on its Board of Visitors. He delighted in coaching girls softball and little league for the City Parks and Recreation Department and was a member of Capital Rotary Club. Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years, his three children, and five grandchildren. Posted 6.24.24
Rosemary O’Shea ('81) passed away on April 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. O’Shea joined Baker Law as an associate in 1982 and became a partner in in 1991. Rosemary was a business lawyer who uniquely practiced in two distinct disciplines- real estate and employment law- and was widely respected as an expert in both areas. O’Shea also regularly advised clients on fair housing and ADA issues and hospitality industry matters. O’Shea will always be remembered for her incredible humor, her love of good scotch, her disdain of computers, her somewhat messy office and her fancy and colorful sunglasses and jewelry. David S. Oliver ('85) passed away on March 18, 2024. Oliver was a versatile and highly regarded litigator who was a partner in several major Florida law firms, including the last several years as a shareholder at Gray Robinson in Orlando. David is survived by his wife Terry and his two daughters, Chelsea and Alexis. Posted 4.3.24
Alexandra M. Kowalski ('95) passed away on March 4th 2023 after a long battle with brain cancer. Kowalski was born in Brussels, Belgium. Her family moved to the United States when she was at the age of 9 months. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, attended undergrad at the College of Charleston, and later received a law degree from Florida State University. Kowalski was a great lawyer, a great friend to many, a wonderful sister, and above all, a great mother. Posted 4.27.23
Terry Russell ('69) passed away from cancer on February 28, 2023. Graduating in December 1968, he was a member of the College of Law's charter class, and had been devoted to the law school, and very active in the alumni organization and network. He was also a passionate fan of the Florida State football program. Russell was always grateful to the law school for the opportunity to become a lawyer, and along with his wife Mary Kay, counted their time in Tallahassee as the happiest years of their lives. Pamela Gayle Davis (’91) passed away on February 5, 2023. Davis, a native Floridian from Hollywood, Florida, was a mother, a sister, a friend, a lawyer, a career prosecutor, and an FSU College of Law alumna. She attended Florida State University for both her undergraduate degree and for law school. She remained an enthusiastic FSU football fan for the remainder of her life and was often heard each August discussing how the team looked for the new season. In 1991, she became an assistant state attorney in the Ninth Judicial Circuit and began a career that would span more than the next three decades, and she was the first human trafficking ASA in the circuit, the first Black female sex crimes and homicide prosecutor in the circuit, as well as one of the first few Black supervisors in the office. Roberto A. Godoy ('74) passed away on December 3, 2022. Godoy lived a life of service, working as an attorney in his family's business, Godoy-Sayan; serving as the first Hispanic chairman of the Republican Party of Miami-Dade County; as Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Service Board commissioner from its inception until its closure, overseeing the completion of over 35 fire stations; and managing Villas Godoy Condominiums, assisting low-income families. Roberta M. Truman ('86) passed away on January 16, 2022. While at FSU Law, Truman received the Book Award for Federal Jurisdiction in the Spring of 1985. Dorothy (Dottie) Louise Miller ('90), age 82, passed away on October 14, 2019. After she earned a law degree from Florida State University in 1990, Dottie founded a regional newspaper, Georgia South, in Boston, Georgia, and continued to own and operate Bush Baby – a Junk, Art, and Antique Store in Monticello, FL – for a total of 28 years. In 2011, Dottie co-authored a book with the builder of her unique artsy home entitled, “Peckerwood – A Writers’ Colony and a State of Being.” Posted 11.30.21
Mark Elliott Holcomb ('85) passed away in September 2021. In his 36 years of practicing law, he worked with several different Tallahassee law firms, most recently Dean Mead & Dunbar. Jon Hernan ('03) passed away unexpectedly in June. Hernan enjoyed a career as a trial lawyer defending major corporations including automakers, amusement parks, chemical companies and other manufacturers. He began his legal career as an associate at Cabaniss Smith Toole & Wiggins, followed by Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker, and almost 10 years with Seipp Flick & Hosley. In February 2016, Hernan and his partners joined the national firm of Bowman and Brooke, where he was named the managing partner of Orlando (Lake Mary), Florida office in February 2021. Posted 7.6.21

Lynwood F. Arnold, Jr. ('73) passed away on August 19, 2020 from unexpected complications related to his recent cancer diagnosis. During his life, he practiced real estate and probate litigation in Tampa and Tallahassee. He helped form the Bay Area Real Estate Council and was its first president. In addition to the Leon and Hillsborough County Bar Associations, Lynwood dedicated significant time to The Florida Bar's Real Property Probation and Trust Law section and served on its Executive Council. Arnold was also an esteemed member of the Legal Aid Foundation of Tallahassee’s Board of Directors. His devotion to pro bono work was just as steadfast as his devotion to mentoring young lawyers. Joyce M. Davis ('76) passed away of metastatic cancer on July 4, 2020. From her time in the Peace Corps in Turkey to her avid support for Habitat for Humanity, her professional and personal life was directed to the betterment of others.
